Our Meeting with Nicola Roxon.
Representatives of our Need More GPs group were invited to a meeting with Nicola Roxon on Tuesday 9th September. We are still considering our formal response at this time, but in summary, we feel that:

Barns are being promised all over the country as the Federal Government's response to the shortage of GPs. As they will take a while to build, they are not a sensible short-term solution to the immediate crisis in general practice medicine.

The horse will be dead and the cart a wreck by the time the barn is built. What's the point of having a long term strategy if the short term cannot be addressed at the same time. There will be very little to build on. Where will the GPs be to carry out the long term plan.
